Afterschool Program
Richmond Prep has partnered with the Lavelle Prep Afterschool program. The program runs from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm Monday through Thursday. The program includes art, theater, music, and technology. Admission is on a first come, first serve basis, so please return your applications in a timely manner. Applications will be available during the first week of school.
Grades and Grading Policy
Richmond Prep uses PowerSchool as our gradebook. All families will receive a login and password. You will be able to view your child’s grades as they are entered.
Richmond Prep uses a proprietary grading system. On the report card you will see four grades, an Grade Level Proficiency (GLP), Habits of Work and Learning (HOWL), Intervention and Enrichment (I&E), and Final grade. Each category is explained below:
GLP is measured on a numerical scale from 0-100 and is in an indicator of how your child is progressing on grade level standards. A high grade is a sign of meeting grade level standards, a lower grade is an indicator of below grade level performance.
HOWL (Habits of Work and Learning) is measured on a numerical scale from 0-100 and is an indicator of how well your child works in the academic environment. This area includes homework, classwork, groupwork, etc. A higher grade is an indicator of excellent work ethic and citizenship, a lower grade is an indicator of struggling habits.
I&R is measured on a numerical scale from 0-100 and encompasses all work that is done above or below grade level. Often students are able to take on advanced work, or need lower level work to reinforce their skills. This category will capture their performance in those areas.
Final Grade is measured on a numerical scale from 0-100 and is composed of four items, the GLP grade, the I&R grade, and the HOWL grade. Often students are not ready for grade level work, so our team tailors the instruction to meet students where they are. This does mean that a higher grade does not always show that a student is meeting promotional criteria. The Academic Achievement grade is a better indicator of that measurement.
Calendar
Our school calendar can be found here.
Communication
Richmond Prep uses the service ParentSquare for all communications. This service can be accessed through their website and through an app. We strongly recommend downloading the app. Through ParentSquare you can directly contact the school and your child’s teachers. You can also access updates that are regularly posted by the school.
Technology
Each student will be issued a chromebook for usage during the school day. Students are wholly responsible for their computer which includes appropriate usage and damage.
